I was in this boat so I know of what I speak. The price is out of reach unless your already pretty successful to begin with. Most of them are really selling to performers already doing really well but just want to reach the next level. That's all well and good as long as your already doing really well. What if your only doing good or just starting out?

I finally got sick of waiting for some of these guys to get real about their prices. I don't think their out to rip you off but I do think they have forgotten what it's like to be struggling to get shows. Man, it's frustrating, would'nt you agree? I've decided to be that guy, I've beena full time performer for 25 years now. I average bewtween 250 - 300 shows a year. I make a good living doing what I love.
I discovered the secret to making magic pay, persistance is the key. Most people fail in this business because they simply wear out to quick. They hear a couple of NO's and they can't take the rejection. Even the best out there hear NO every once in a while. It's ok, you see everyone will not say yes no matter how good you are. There are reasons people say NO that really have nothing to do with you personally.
- They were hoping you were FREE (really, no kidding some people really do hope that)
- They were just tinkering with the idea (curiosity seekers, they're really out there)
- They got a cousin or nephew who will do it for FREE
- Bargain hunters, these people think they're at a flea market and really try to wittle you down so much that you wind up paying them.
- It's really your competition trying to see what your price is (this happens to me all the time)
Sometimes however it is about your personally, selling yourself is an art that's learned over time. people can tell by your voice on the phone if they want to hire you or not. Some people sound like a real drag on the phone. They could not entertain anybody. Think about yourself are you like that on the phone with your prospects when they call? I can help you with that and I will as we continue on and get to know each other.

To be honest many people are not really ready to be helped. They say they are but even though they have no shows, they still think they got it all figured out. This is called pride, it will kill your business. People don't like somebody they see as full of themselves. You'll have a whole lot of free time on your hands if this is what prospects think of you on the phone or in your emails.
